What we collect
Sparrow Loop has no accounts, no comments and no reason to ask who you are. You can read the whole site without giving a name or an email address.
Our server writes a standard access log entry for every request: the IP address, the time, the path requested and the browser string. That log is used for debugging and traffic counting and is rotated and deleted on the hosting provider's default schedule.
The site also keeps its own anonymous count of how many times each page was opened, which is what the "most read" list on the index page is built from. That count records only which entry was opened and in which language. It contains no IP address, no cookie identifier and cannot be traced back to a person. It lives on our own server and is not shared with anyone.
Advertising and cookies
This site shows advertising through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
Where the law requires it — in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — we ask for your consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before any personalised advertising cookie is set. You can change or withdraw that consent at any time from the same prompt. If you decline personalised advertising you will still see advertising, it simply will not be based on your browsing history.
Third-party ad vendors may also collect device information, coarse location derived from the IP address, and page interaction data, in order to measure ad performance and detect fraud. That collection is governed by each vendor's own privacy policy, and we cannot read the personal parts of it.
Your rights under the GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to processing, and to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Because this site builds no user profiles and stores no accounts, most requests land with the advertising vendors: you can exercise those rights directly with Google, or write to us and we will pass the request on.
Your rights under the CCPA / CPRA
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended gives you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to request correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. This site does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising unless you have explicitly agreed in the consent prompt. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Children
This site is written for adults. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child's personal information has reached us, write in and we will delete it.
External links
Pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; once you leave this site, their policy applies.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in substance we will update the date at the top of the page. Any privacy question can go to [email protected].
